The Plot:
The setting is Truvy’s
Beauty Shop in Chinquapin Parrish, Louisiana. Truvy’s is the most
popular shop in town, catering to the neighborhood’s most prominent and
colorful clients. In our story, these clients include the former First
Lady of Chinquapin, Clairee Belcher (Cindy Marion); Clairee’s best
friend and neighborhood curmudgeon, Ouiser Boudreaux (Jane Tucker);
young bride-to-be Shelby Eatenton (Olivia Jessup) and her stressed-out
mother, M’Lynn Eatenton (Angela Llewellyn). Tending to the hairstyles
and hearts of these strong women of Chinquapin are the outrageous Truvy
(Billie Smith) and her eccentric new assistant, Annelle
(Jessica Llewellyn).
In two very funny and sometimes poignant acts, we are invited inside
the sanctuary of Truvy’s to share in the trials and triumphs, the joys
and sorrows of these six very Southern ladies.
